Two killed in Lahore shrine explosion

LAHORE: Two people were killed and 27 others wounded in an explosion near a shrine in Lahore late Thursday.

It was a low-intensity blast apparently caused by a cracker (firecracker), local police officer Mohammad Shehzad said.

The explosion took place at the gate of the shrine of saint Haider Sain. The device was apparently thrown from a moving vehicle.

Police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is under way, officials said.DawnNews/AFP
