SC directs IGPs to produce details of missing persons cases

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the federal and provincial inspectors general of police to present the details of the missing persons cases in the court.

A four-judge bench headed by Justice Javed Iqbal heard the missing persons case.

During the hearing, Additional Attorney General K K Agha told the court that the government wanted to constitute a tribunal for recovering the missing.

However, petitioner Amina Janjua said the government had also formed a commission in this regard in the past.

There is talk of forming another commission when grievances of the affected families are only increasing, Janjua said.

Moreover, Justice Iqbal said the government may constitute a tribunal but the court will continue to hear cases pertaining to the missing.

He further said that those missing persons cases in which clues to their recovery are present would be heard on a priority basis during the next hearing. DawnNews
