Saddar: A sea of contradictions

Everyone in Karachi has a soft spot for Saddar be it the electronics (or paper, bottle, Zainab, Lea or Empress) market, Burns Road or M. A Jinnah Road Saddar gives Karachi personality. Swimming in a sea of contradictions from its burqa stalls to sexologist clinics there is something in Saddar for the individual and conformist in us.

Unrest during the Second World War made many Chinese flee their homeland and settle in Pakistan mostly in Karachi. To earn a living they started working as beauticians, shoemakers, chefs and dentists.
