Year 2010 witnessed slight increase in crime rate

Abbottabad, Year 2010 witnessed slight increase in crime rate as compared to the previous year, according to police record. Total 6976 cases of different nature were registered in all 11 police stations of District Abbottabad as compared to previous yearIs total of 6515.

The ratio of heinous crimes like Attempt to murder, Rape, Abduction, Dacoity, Robbery, Burglary, Theft and car snatching cases were increased during the year 2010. The cases of kidnapping have dropped from 34 to 17 and five cases of kidnapping for ransom occurred in both years. Similarly the child lifting cases remained 1, both in 2009 and 2010. The abduction cases were on higher side with 89 in 2010 while 13 in 2009. The number of assaults on police has dropped from 20 to 6 while assaults on other government offices and people were 4 in 2009 and 9 such cases have been registered in year 2010. The cases of non-fatal accidents have reduced from 110 to 83 while 39 cases of fatal accident were registered in 2010 as compared with 28 in 2009. Police also recovered 81 rifles, 427 shot guns, 635 revolvers, 21 daggers and 34955 rounds during 20010. During 2009, 59 people were murdered in different areas of the district while in year 2010 the figures dropped to 53 while the cases of attempted murder enhanced to 112 from 80.The cases of injuries rose from 213 to 254, adultery from 10 to 26 and cases of sodomy have reached to 5 to 8. Ordinary robberies cases registered were 24 as compared with year 2009 during which 11 such cases were registered. Similarly, 77 cases on Burglary were committed in 2009, 35 cases of car theft, 80 theft, 7 vehicle snatching and I motor cycle snatching case were registered in 2010.
