Nawaz denies issuing ultimatum
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif has said that he never used the word 'ultimatum' during the press conference last week while presenting 10-point agenda, News reported.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting of senior party leaders at his Raiwand residence, Nawaz said that word ultimatum did not even exist in his dictionary.
PML-N chief stated that the media exaggerated his last week's press conference, adding that he had just wanted the government to respond in 'yes' or 'no' over implementation of 10-point agenda, proposed last week, and the government has responded positively to it.
He said the government has withdrawn the petroleum prices besides accepting the reform agenda of PML-N, therefore, his party would fully support the government for the implementation of this national agenda.
He appreciated the governments step of reversing the POL price hike.
Nawaz Sharif was of view that the prime minister has now become more powerful following the passage of the 18th Amendment bill.
The PML-N has constituted a four-member committee comprising Senator Ishaq Dar, Pervez Rasheed, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Sardar Mehtab Abbasi to formally present the 10-point agenda to the government, he said. The committee would discuss the proposals with the government.
Pakistan is passing through critical time both economically and politically, Nawaz asserted, and hoped that his 10-point agenda would bring the country out of crisis. Our 10-point agenda is for the progress and prosperity of the country, he said.
The PML-N leader said: We have never raised any issue for our own interest. My agenda is for the interest of the country because our neighbors are progressing well while we are going downward. All the demands were made for people, he added.
Nawaz Sharif further said that government did not implement the Charter of Democra! cy (CoD) completely. We have not demanded midterm elections, he added.
He said his 10-point agenda would be presented to the government today or tomorrow.
