Bus Blast in Kohat, 15 killed
KOHAT: A blast caused by exploding gas cylinders ripped through a minibus Monday killing at least 15 people and several injured.
The blast took place at Jawarza, near the restive northwestern town of Hangu, after a pick-up truck collided with a passenger vehicle.
Local police chief Islamuddin Khan says it is unclear whether Mondays explosion was caused by a bomb or the gas cylinder used to power the bus.
District police chief Abdul Rashid from the scene that a bomb disposal team had been called in to investigate, but it seemed the blast had been caused by the explosion of gas cylinders.
He said the incident took place when the two vehicles collided.
I can see two exploded gas cylinders in the wreckage of the passenger wagon, he said.
Local police spokesman Fazal Naeem confirmed the blast and casualties. The bus was traveling between the cities of Hangu and Kohat when the blast occurred.
