ANP demands operation to make Karachi weapons free

KARACHI: President of Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh chapter Shahi Syed has demanded of the government to launch an operation in Karachi by the army to make the city free from weapons.
He was addressing an emergency press conference on Friday at Mardan House Karachi. He said that extortion is the main reason behind the target killings in Karachi.
He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo-moto notice of the recent target killings in Karachi.
He announced that the ANP Sindh would observe three-day mourning for slain reporter of a private TV channel, Wali Khan Babar.
He said all offices of ANP will remain closed for three days. He said that Wali Khan Babar was a responsible and professional journalist.
Shahi Syed appealed to all political parties to play their role for establishing peace in Karachi.
He demanded that the government should take action against culprits, anti-state elements and extortionists without accepting any political influence.
He also condoled on the demise of former leader of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Minhaj Barna.
